Hanging Out With The Guys In The Evenings ...

Yes ....I know rain ...more rain...& rain and rain..

I'm heartily sick of it.... and now they say its to be a record breaking wet July too.

So much for the photo's of us enjoying our garden... Hubby P has taken to mooching about outside in the evenings....it seems to be dry then.
He has his little bunch of Guys to keep him company...

Remember Percy the pigeon ... well all his feathers grew back and his wing seemed a lot better so we released him from the cage... but he's still hanging around.
He has taken up residence behind the shed...and roosts on an old step ladder...coo-ing softly to us.

And another of the rascally gang....

 Can you see him?

Geoffrey the mouse .... coming out to play ....well feed actually.

On one of the less rainy days I had a good old weeding session...I cleared the garden bed around the apple tree. Its where we feed the birds so there is always lots of spilt seed and crumbs from the bird table, which often sprout into ....well quite tasty lookin weeds actually.
Now I have cleared the weeds anyone or 'anymouse'  ....'knockin about' ...can easily be seen .... not that Geoffrey is that bothered by us wandering about.
He sits happily chewing on a morsel...
........ and communes with Hubby P.

Here's a random pic I had on the camera ...its the lovely bottles of Elderflower cordial... I must put some by for wintertime.

And something bright and pretty to cheer a Girl...

Do you like my new tin ....it has little handles and everything!
I think its just so cheery and pretty ....I shall keep my bits and bobs in it for the 'ongoing' quilt ...so handy on the windowsill ...it may inspire me to do a little each evening.

Here is the 'ongoing' quilt ....as you can see it is quite large...and very random!
I shall just keep plodding away with it ...after all there is no rush to finish it ...it just keeps my hands busy without me having to employ my brain very much.
As Gran use to say ...'The Devil makes work for idle hands'...

Anyway enough of me ...how are you?
Keep warm.... keep dry... it sounds like winter..... roll on summer!

Take care xx

  1. I love the quilt you are making. I have made two quilts with squares, but yours looks more 'vintagy' using hexagons, so might attempt making one.
Unfortunately our discarded bird seed is being eaten by a rat. I have kind of got used to him but hubby says he has got to go. Catching him is proving to be difficult though. Artful creatures.

  3. I love your quilt. I don't sew at all so I envy those with that talent. I am a crocheter and beginner knitter. Keeps me very busy!

  5. Hello,

Haven't been on for a wee while and your blog always seems to cheer me up and you didn't fail me today....I have made 18 litres of elderflower champagne which is gradually going down!!!! Delicious!!! I was going to attempt the cordial but the weather was so bad i didn't get out in time and most of the flowers are turning or have already turned to berries...so elderberry wine may be my next venture!!

  6. Good to see Geoffrey again - like a fool I was waving my badge at the screen shouting 'yay Geoffrey' - sad.
I am so envious of your amazing garden - I have never lived anywhere with anything bigger than a small northern back yard - it drives me mad visiting people with big gardens who do nothing with them!

Love the lifetime hexagon quilt as well, I have one that is 20 years in the making so far...

  7. Missing your posts! Love the hexi quilt. Very hot here in the US- does not make you very ambitious with all the heat! Currently decluttering cupboards- boxes being filled for the charity shop.Hope you are enjoying dryer weather!
