How Many Hankies Does A Girl Need!??

Hope you are keeping toasty warm...
I have spent the day going through my boxes of treasures, trying to 'thin out' all the stuff I have collected over the years.
There is so much of it!..... there is no room for new finds!

These were in my hankie box .....
Just how many hankies does a Girl need?
I went through them and put some aside to go to the Emporium...... someone else can have the pleasure of them.
I do use 'proper' hankies ..... clean one everyday ...... although I don't tuck it in my knicker leg ..... me reachin for my handkerchief would raise a few eyebrows at the carboot!

I just love this spotty one and of course the retro blue colour delights ... I wonder who 'D' was?

And just look at all the embroidery and drawn thread work on this one.... its just lovely..... my hankies are just a little something that I enjoy everyday.

I found this too ..... its a cover for slipping over nice, 'best' clothes when storing/hanging them in the wardrobe. Another nice, thrifty ... gentile sort of thing we no longer do.
The cotton fabric, well its vintage now..... is just so pretty. I gave it a bit of a wash and thought I would keep it, and use it.... but maybe I will ebay it... still a few bits to get for Christmas and the old ebay account is a bit low.
Hay ho... where does all the money go.....!
How's your Christmas Shopping going? I went to Asda today.... got quite a shock at the prices, everything has gone up! I went to buy a vest .... silly prices!
Off to do a bit of crochet now.....
xx Take care xx

  1. Hello I am so glad I found your lovely blog .
very pretty hankies my mum was a cotton hankie girl and I remember her wetting it with her spit to clean our faces when we were young YUCK! what was wrong with a bit of soap and water A tradition I certainly wont be repeating but I do have a few cotton hankies though
    xx fee

  2. I love a nice soft hanky when I have a cold. I'm getting through a lot of tissues at the moment - urgh!! But when I had the big sniffles last week, I was using some old cotton hankies that used to be my Dad's they are soooo lovely and comforting. Love the green spotty hanky there. Our snow had begun today, I had my first work meeting, this evening 7 - 9 pm, came out of school and it was bucketing down, glad to be at home now. Keep safe and cosy

  3. I have a collection of hankies too. They are very pretty, my favourite ones are the ones I had as a child which have nursery rhymes on. I love your hankies, but as you say it's time to have a clean out when you have no room for more things.I'm sure someone else will love them.xx

  4. ...There is nothing softer than a much washed cotton hankie.
I always used to carry one in my pocketbook. My Grandmother always carried two or three down in her chemise/bosom.
Handy when you have lots of grand-babies !

  5. Hi, love the green spotty one, this ost took me back to my little girl days when my nana used to give me hankies. Must say I'm more impressed now than I was then, but still, happy mempories, thank you. Karen x
